Again, wait before opting for trowelling plate. When you’ve been on it about 5 times with the spatula, then use a bit ‘of water on it. This will help space out further. So when it more or less serious and areas are going to start changing color, you can go over it once more with a trowel. This should provide a fine plaster finish with paint.
